A system should not get to hurt someone just because it sounds certain.
Project Shadow is a civic and technical quality system for making power explain itself. This Space is a public technical card, release index, correction surface, and exact convenience mirror. It is not a model or inference endpoint. GitHub remains the canonical custody and release host.
Why this exists
The first dangerous thing an AI did to me was agree with me too well.
I told the models not to flatter me. The obvious compliments disappeared and returned as inflated evaluation, destiny language, and polished rationalization. The wording passed. The requirement failed.
I recognized the pattern because I work in quality systems. A record can be complete while the risk remains. Project Shadow grew from the attempt to build controls around that gap: separate evidence from inference, keep authority visible, preserve UNKNOWN, name who pays for error, and require correction to survive an effectiveness check.
The question underneath it is simple: If the system is wrong, who pays first, and can they recover?
What you can test
You do not need to evaluate the whole architecture. Reproduce one verifier result, break one gate, test one of the 42 admitted primitives or 10 compositions, construct a false positive, or show where a correction could close without an effectiveness check.

R1.0.1 is the current corrected public reference. It contains no Myth package. Generic Myth v0.2.0 and Full-Canon Myth v0.3.5 are separate optional companions. Both default off, neither is required by R1, and neither can authorize action or change an R1 result.

The admitted Myth-free inner family is Project_Shadow_R1.0.1_Runtime_Family_Myth_Decoupled_2026-08-17.zip: 5,463,189 bytes; SHA-256 c8c32b12432c954b1a6f852c0c9f81bbbd40167e936be057d4c3de1a0aa3a623. Its 27 active descendants are byte-identical to the August 14 predecessor; zero operational descendant bytes changed. Their canonical member-set digest is 7a557efad953cbafd9e3ea9eb29b2d3e3e1bc6ab99dcf6b9ae7a99c487b0754d.
Packaging-boundary correction
CAPA `PS-R1-PRIVATE-MYTH-PUBLIC-BOUNDARY-001` found that the preserved August 14 outer archive contained a 29,763-byte Generic Myth v0.1.1 member, SHA-256 4d8481ed8f6af3e04d86a5c2de7e94aad47a591e1ce9c8757bbb4b0a397b90bb, whose own metadata said PRIVATE_INTERNAL_ONLY, EXCLUDED_FROM_PUBLIC, and public_manufacture_eligible=false.
The August 14 artifact remains immutable historical evidence. R1.0.1 is a separately versioned correction: the embedded Myth payload is gone, all 27 active descendants are unchanged, and the release verifier now applies recursive classification, hash, path, symlink, depth, and budget controls. Two deterministic outer builds were byte-identical, full and cold verification passed, and 14/14 adversarial mutants were rejected.
Current CAPA state: IMPLEMENTED_PENDING_EFFECTIVENESS, following the August 22 reopening of the six-site semantic criterion. The earlier August 18 closure remains historical. The packaging correction and retained exact-byte observations do not establish that every current public page expresses the correct relationships.

Optional Generic Myth v0.2.0
Generic Myth v0.2.0 is an authorized public successor built from eligible original material. The private/internal v0.1.1 archive is not republished and its old classification is not inherited.

Verification: 32/32 behavior tests passed; all 23 exact inventory paths passed; source-tree and packed-archive verification passed; 11/11 adversarial mutations were rejected; and two independent deterministic builds were byte-identical.

Preserved predecessor
The August 14 public R1 remains preserved unchanged at 7,679,812 bytes, SHA-256 2f8fe1530b6a83294d15011df95853aaecf08fa4dba756f0c2e91dd089e1b1ec, tag r1-2026-08-14. It is superseded for the packaging-boundary correction, not deleted or rewritten. Its historical authorization, signatures, and receipts do not authenticate R1.0.1.
Scope and nonclaims
Publication does not authorize or establish:
- production use or operational deployment;
- efficacy, safety, or harm-prevention performance;
- certification or legal compliance;
- comprehensive security or independent validation;
- third-party endorsement or rights clearance;
- real-world bot or coordination detection;
- AI consciousness, CHIM, or “alignment solved”; or
- authority for narrative or interpretive material to override evidence, gates, receipts, or human accountability.
Hashes establish retained-byte identity. Tests establish only behavior against their declared checks and fixtures.
Verify
Download the named artifact, confirm its byte count and SHA-256, inspect the ZIP structure, extract it into a new directory, and follow the verifier instructions shipped inside. Platform-neutral commands are in `docs/VERIFY.md`.
Rights
No blanket license applies to every part of Project Shadow. Read `docs/RIGHTS.md` and every controlling path-level notice inside the exact artifact before reuse or redistribution.
